How does an Elevation Certificate help?
An Insurance company calculates your flood insurance rate based on the
information you give them about your home, value, location etc.
The insurance agents omits all the information about how FEMA zones
affect your home height above sea level, this produces the worse case scenario
for your home. If you show an insurance agent the measurements
from the Elevation Certificate and photos, the Insurance agent must input
that information in his calculations, and
the new information drastically lowers your insurance cost because
now you are charged for your TRUE RISK which is "low" instead of the
